Which network should you accept USDT on? TRC20 vs ERC20

USDT exists on several blockchains, each with different fees and speed. This guide shows which network suits your store best.

Contents

Tether (USDT) is a token that lives on several blockchains. The amount is the same on every network, but transfer fees and confirmation times differ. If a buyer sends USDT on a network that doesn’t match the invoice address, the payment won’t arrive — which is why the checkout page shows the network next to the address.

TRC20 (TRON)

  • Low transfer fees
  • Fast confirmations, usually within minutes
  • The most common choice for Iranian users

ERC20 (Ethereum)

  • Higher fees that vary with network congestion
  • Wide support across international wallets and exchanges

Our recommendation

For most stores, enable TRC20 as the main option and keep ERC20 for buyers who only hold USDT on that network.
